boulettes_larder-779074.jpgHappy New Year!! As we move into 2009 we are all thinking about taking better care of ourselves…eating delicious, real, unprocessed, seasonal food is and should be one of the priorities. My wonderful friends Amaryll Schwertner and Lori Regis immediately come to mind as I contemplate all things related to delicious food. They are two incredibly talented individuals who share my own passion for food, flowers, art and design. If you are in San Francisco anytime soon please take time to stop by their fabulous kitchen, cafe and private dining space, Boulettes Larder in the Ferry Building. If you are looking for the perfect location to host a small, intimate dinner party or celebration with unbelievable food and attention to detail be sure to book a night at Boulettes Larder. My dear friend and mentor Maria Vella provides all of the amazingly poetic floral arrangements for their private events and for the open shop/cafe space. I copied a bit of text from their website which details what exactly Boulettes Larder is all about and what they encourage with their work and their beautiful food…

  • Be in tune with your hunger.
  • Draw from the region’s best seasonal offerings.
  • Consult the mise en place we have prepared for you.
  • Respond visually and intuitively to the diverse palette of local and faraway flavors.
  • Imagine a meal to sate your desires.
  • Add your own joy and satisfaction, discretion, and spontaneity to complete seasonal meals at home.
Here is a link to a recent article featured in the San Francisco Chronicle detailing some of Amaryll’s simply divine creations. Also, here are a few recent photos of Lori and Amaryll in my friend Maria’s San Francisco studio. Enjoy and eat well!

We always welcome the opportunity to work outside of NYC. This year we traveled to the Caribbean, Europe, California and all over the Northeast. I first met Chris and Katie Humphreys in LA earlier this year. We were doing an event in downtown Los Angeles and they photographed every detail. They are not only fantastic to work with but they also do beautiful work. Chris and Katie enjoy traveling and working on destination weddings just as much as we do. We worked together again in Greenwich, CT several months after meeting in California. Here are some of the beautiful images they provided of our work at the CT wedding. It was a beautiful garden setting and a perfect summer day. I can’t believe how amazing those yellow tree peonies were!! They were huge and lush…incredible! You can see more of their photographs at http://chrishumphreys.com/

We haven’t received the professional photos of this event but I thought you would all enjoy images from my own camera for a peek at a wonderful party we did earlier in the year. The party was outside of Los Angeles near Newport Beach. The fabulous Lyndsey Hamilton of LHE was the planner for this party & she introduced my team to the very cool client. We had a great time designing this event. I called Raj Tents to install a magical Moroccan world in the garden & pool areas of the property. The client’s home was already full of inspiration for this exotic decor so it all worked perfectly & her husband was delighted by his surprise birthday party!

We just returned from our fabulous trip to Italy!

We had such a fantastic time and can’t wait to share some pictures with you. As you may know from our first post, the wedding was in a small town about an hour north of Rome called Orvieto–which is known for its intricate lace, delicious black truffles, wild boar and white wines. We couldn’t help but instantly fall in love with this environment and the locals.

We have a few great photos of Paola the local wedding planner and Cristina who owns the restaurant used for the reception. These will be posted soon, but for now here are a few snapshots from the trip, enjoy!

Stay tuned for more…

We recently worked on a beautiful wedding in Milton, NY at the Buttermilk Falls Inn. Despite the mid-morning downpour everything came together, dried out and we had a successful event!

Take a look at some quick shots I took of the wedding. We had so much fun working at this beautiful venue, the views overlooking the Hudson were gorgeous!

This may be backpedaling a bit, but I wanted to post some behind-the-scenes photos from the wedding we did earlier this year in Turks and Caicos. You can see the event gallery here, but we also shot a series of photos that may be included in a very special project I’m currently working on but will keep the details a secret for now! Enjoy these great images. You will see the fabulous Kimmy & Amanda hard at work!  It was such a fun weekend and a beautiful wedding.

This is so exciting to finally have our own blog. Many of my friends, clients and colleagues have insisted that we get to work on this and we are now making it happen! Thanks to all of Jack’s hard work on the re-design for our amazing and beautiful website…we have an entire new Artfool world to offer with many new events, press photos & details.

In addition to the new site, we have been very busy relocating our entire company to a new space in Chelsea. We are currently making preparations to renovate and design our new showroom, studio and office space…all under one roof! I’m so excited to finally have our entire team in one central location and so much new space to share with our fabulous clients as we develop new ideas, projects and inspiration!

Not only are we doing all of the above but we are feverishly preparing for one of our favorite weddings of the Summer. The wedding is in Orvieto, Italy and we can’t wait to share all of our adventures from Italy in the coming months. I’m posting a few photos from our site visit in May. It was impossible to not find endless design inspiration in the history, the beautiful surroundings and the local architecture. I can’t wait to return soon for the actual events!!

We will keep you posted with all of our favorite finds, foods and travels from Orvieto & Rome.

I hope you are all enjoying a wonderful Summer!
